2012 Classic British Welcome Le Mans - Derek guest of honour

The Classic British Welcome, Friday 15th June from 0900, takes place in the village of Saint Saturnin just north of Le Mans off the N138 and signals the start of the Le Mans weekend for fans of the 24 hour race.

This event is now firmly established as a “must do” on any Le Mans fans agenda. It brings together the fans and their cars in a relaxing environment that features a themed display of marque that has a Le Mans association, which will be the Triumph Spitfire for 2012, free parking, food, drink, an air conditioned cinema and live music.

For 2012 the event celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Triumph Spitfire and in retrospect the 50th Anniversary of the Triumph TR4 which took place in 2011. As always the display of cars at the Classic British Welcome will feature race cars that have a Le Mans history from the marque being celebrated.

The guest of honour will be Derek, who will be present at the event from 1200 to 1500. Derek will be signing his new book, Derek Bell: My Racing Life, from 1200 to 1245 on the event stall, which will be selling the book throughout the day.

Regulars to the event will know that one of the principal organisers is John Curtis, a true motorsport enthusiast who has been involved in the Classic British Welcome since its inception. This year is his last event before he hands over the reins, so please thank him for all the hard work he has put in over the years to make this event what it has now become.
