2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed theme announced
The 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed theme will be ‘Full Throttle – The Endless Pursuit of Power’ as Goodwood celebrates the most powerful competition cars and bikes in the history of motor sport.
Alongside the central theme FoS, 2016 will also celebrate the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, celebrate the inaugural Can-Am Series 50 years ago and pay tribute to James Hunt on the 40th anniversary of his World Championship victory with McLaren in 1976.
As usual, the event will open with the Moving Motor Show, on Thursday, 23rd June, featuring many of the world’s largest manufacturers showcasing their latest models, alongside exciting and innovative concepts.
The 2016 Goodwood Revival will honour the late Sir Jack Brabham, 50 years after he became the only driver in Formula 1 history to claim the World Championship in a car bearing his own name.
Brabham raced and tested at Goodwood extensively during his career, and developed a number of championship-winning cars at the Motor Circuit. A huge gathering of single-seater, saloon and sports cars encompassing his career as a driver and team owner will take part in a number of on-track demonstrations during the weekend.
