26th June 2014

The AA presented Derek with Honorary Life membership in recognition of his 50 years in motorsport, commemorated by a plaque handed over by Lord March at the Moving Motorshow on the Thursday of the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the presence of Chris Jansen, CEO of the AA, and Edmund King, the president of the AA.

Derek began his racing career at Goodwood in March 1964, going onto win his first race driving a Lotus 7, fast forward 50 very successful years behind the wheel, and Derek is still racing, this time in the Group C race at the 2014 Le Mans 24 hours.

"The highlight for me at this years Goodwood Festival of Speed was receiving the honorary membership fro the AA and recognition for my 50 years in motorsport, I really am rather touched by the presentation and would like to thank the AA for their kindness" commented Derek.
