Hope For Tomorrow - Chemotherapy in the Community Week

Date:
24th November 2014

Since Hope for Tomorrow, the national cancer charity dedicated to bringing cancer treatment closer to patients’ homes, launched the world’s first Mobile Chemotherapy Unit in Gloucestershire in 2007, cancer patients across England have been saved from having to travel 500,000 miles for treatment.

Derek, a patron of Hope For Tomorrow, would be delighted if you were able to support Chemotherapy in the Community Week which runs from the 1st - 7th December 2014.

Chemotherapy in the Community Week

Each Mobile Chemotherapy Unit treats up to 20 patients a day, delivering around 2,000 treatments a year. We currently have Units operating throughout Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, East Kent, Berkshire, Lincolnshire and parts of Dorset, with their ninth Unit due to launch in the Spring of 2015 in Cornwall.

However, there is still work to be done! They need your help to save cancer patients even more miles of travel across the UK, minimising the stresses associated with treatment. There are many ways that you can get involved - and here are just a few...

Hold a Fundraising Event

It’s not as difficult as you might think! They can provide you with materials to help you promote your event and raise money on the day. As Chemotherapy in the Community Week falls in the first week of December, why not hold a coffee morning or bazaar with crafts on sale – perfect for those seeking Christmas gifts!

Sign up for Regular Giving

Signing up to give a regular gift to Hope for Tomorrow allows us to plan ahead. This also helps to ensure that we they keep their fleet of Units in operation throughout the UK, helping more and more cancer patients to benefit from a reduction in travel and waiting times for treatment.

Try the ‘£250 Challenge’!

Challenge your work colleagues, or employees if you are a business owner, to raise a total of £250 in support of Chemotherapy in the Community Week. Not only can you build moral at work and bring your team together, it can positively impact your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and raise your company’s profile!

Become a Volunteer

They try to keep overheads to a minimum and one of the most effective ways of doing this is through Volunteers helping them at their office and at events.
