Mark Webber accident at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo

Date:
1st December 2014

Derek was relieved to hear that Mark Webber has escaped serious injury following a dramatic accident that ocurred during the last half hour of the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, the final race of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship season.

Webber was seen to slam into the wall in his No.20 Porsche 919 Hybrid, which he shares with German Timo Bernhard and New Zealander Brendon Hartley.

Webber, who was driving at the end of his first season in the World Endurance Championship, following a 12-year period racing in Formula 1, collected the No.90 8Star Motorsports Ferrari 458 Italia of Matteo Cressoni, after spinning across the track in front of the Ferrari, putting the two race cars into the barriers.

Both drivers were conscious following the incident, after being removed from their cars, they were transported to the circuit’s Medical Centre before being taken to the local hospital in Sao Paulo for check-ups.

Derek wishes both Mark and Matteo a swift recovery.
